The boycotting countries said in a joint statement on Wednesday (5 July 2017), they received a response of Qatar via mediator Kuwait before the end of extra 48 hours that granted to Qatar’s deadline, insuring that they will reply on the right time.
UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Al-Gargash tweeted on Wednesday that the official Qatari response deserved the neglect it received at the conference. Stressing that the next steps would increase the isolation of Qatar, Al-Gargash added.
“The goal is greater than wrangling polemics over materials that changes Doha orientation in its incitement and support for extremism and terrorism”, he said.
Saying, “The next steps will increase the isolation of Qatar, and its position will be with Iran and many rogue terrorist organizations.”
He explained, “Preventing Qatar’s support for extremism and terrorism and stopping regional sabotage is the goal, and the international community is aware that Doha’s position and stance is morally unacceptable.”
Al-Gargash declared that Cairo meeting is just the beginning of a necessary road that saves Qatar from its illusions and sins represented in the Qatari policy in support of extremism and terrorism, which cannot continue.
The foreign ministers of the boycotting countries met to follow up the situation in the Qatari crisis. Discussing the next steps that will take in light of the Qatari responses and stance during the past few hours.
Minister of Egyptian foreign Affairs Sameh Shukri said in a statement issued by the Counterterrorism countries that the “four-state position” depends on international principles and charters. “We cannot tolerate the destructive role of Qatar,” he added.
Qatari response was negative and lacked any substance, Shukri said. The Cairo statement expressed regret for Doha’s procrastination in finding a solution. The boycotting countries said in a joint statement the next meeting will be held in Manama. Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain thanked Emir of Kuwait for his mediation efforts.
